Sugar Test

I don't have the sugar diabetes!  yay!  I will say that that drink is awful.  It was so hard to choke down, because I never drink stuff like that and I wasn't hungry or thirsty when I had to drink it.  So glad I do not have to do repeat the test.

The not so good news is that my hemoglobin levels are 9.8 which is pretty low.  My OB gave me some prescription iron to take, so I guess I will start that today.  I hope it gives me more energy though my energy levels are so much higher than they were in the first trimester.   I had a sneaking suspicion it was low, because I have been craving ice like crazy.

My next u/s is March 22nd and I will be 28 weeks then.  I can't wait to sneak another peak!

  5. Ah, I'm glad to hear that you tested clear for diabetes. The low iron thing sucks, though...I heard that iron supplements can make you seriously constipated, so eat lots of fiber and drink lots of water! I hope that the supplements help!

And, yay for 28 weeks!! You've made it to the third tri. We're almost there!

  6. I'm so glad you passed the test! I have mine next Wednesday.
Not looking forward to that yummy fruit punch beverage:) I hope the supplemental iron helps with the anemia. I've been increasing my red meat intake lately just in case I'm a little anemic. I'm jealous your next ultrasound is so soon. It's so much fun to see them squirming on the screen!

  7. Hooray for passing the GTT!!! During my pregnancy, my iron was low too. If we went out, I would purchase a beverage and, many times, not even conciously realize that I was chewing on the ice at the end. As my OB nurse told me - the babies take what they need first and mommy gets the leftovers. Don't stress too much, your iron levels will return within a few weeks of the birth.

  8. Yay -- that stuff is SO gross. I was not told to fast or anything before mine w/ DS and I had a yogurt. So I failed and had to do it again, but the second time it was like an all-day (or seemed like it) thing. I do not look fwd to that!

  9. yay for no diabetes! Yes that drink is terrible! But it's one more hurdle you've leaped. Sorry about the low iron -- hopefully the supplements will help -- and result in you feeling better.
