Tomorrow's the Big Day

Tomorrow I go to a new OB-gyn for my first ultrasound.  I am pretty nervous and keep running the different scenarios through my head.  Of course, the most prominent scenario is a bad one.  I've been distracting myself with Jeffry Eugenides new book The Marriage Plot.  The characters are pretentious little Ivy Leaguers, but it is entertaining and taking my mind off tomorrow's events.

During the last week, I also read Kate Atkinson's Started Early, Took My Dog.  I am halfway through Charles Frazier's new book, Nightwoods.  I have spent a small fortune in books this month.

The nausea is definitely coming on stronger and I have no desire to cook anything.  I have been subsisting on cereal, cheese toast and strawberries.

Today seemed like a busy day for IF'ers across the land.  I hope that everyone gets what they are hoping for and more.

  1. I am so excited for you for tomorrow! The nausea, while a drag, is a great sign. It will be such a relief to get through tomorrow and actually *see* your little one! BTW, I like Jeffrey Eugenides a lot - may have to pick up that book. I am saving a couple of books for Denver in November - will need the distraction then!

Keep us posted - look forward to hearing great news!

  4. I like Kate Atkinson too! I've liked every book of hers except Emotionally Weird - you can skip that one, in my opinion. And I'm on the library waiting list for the Marriage Plot.

Good luck at the ultrasound - I bet it's going to go great!

  6. Good luck today! I can't wait to hear the results.

Oh, and I definitely felt the same way as you and still do...no desire to cook anything, and I subsisted on fruit and grilled cheese sandwiches (when I could keep those down).

  7. My thoughts are with you on this special day and seeing that beautiful heartbeat! Looking forward to an update.

Get used to feeling not like cooking and eating lots of fruit and carbs. It's the one time in your life when you have an excuse! :o)
